WHY DO I NEED GLASSES TO SEE CLEARLY?The cornea (front surface of the eye) and the lens inside the eye (similar to a camera lens) work together to allow your eye to focus images clearly. If your cornea and lens do not focus these images properly on the retina (back of the eye), you will need glasses or contact lenses to correct the focusing. The abnormal focusing of your eye is categorized as nearsighted, farsighted or as having astigmatism.
CAN DR. NEWSOM FIX THE FOCUSING ABILITY OF MY EYE?Unfortunately, there is not a pill, vitamin or exercise that will change the focusing ability of your eye. However, Dr. Newsom can reshape the abnormal focusing of your eye by performing LASIK surgery. Dr. Newsom uses the ALLEGRETTO WAVE™ Excimer Laser System, which is considered to be the most advanced laser system in the world:
In order to access the cornea and treat it, a flap must be created on the surface of your eye. Dr. Newsom uses the IntraLase® Femtosecond Laser to create the flap, thereby making LASIK an all-laser, blade-free procedure.
