Growing up with an eye surgeon for a father made childhood slightly different for Dr. Newsom. This prestigious honor allowed him to begin Medical School at UF after only two years of undergraduate work. Subsequently, Dr. Newsom served a transitional internship at the world renowned Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Iowa - one of the leading eye surgeon training programs in the United States. Currently, he is the only doctor to ever be named Lifetime Visiting Professor at the University of Iowa.

In his 12 years of experience, T. Hunter Newsom, MD has performed over 14,000 eye surgeries.
